Family Systems Therapy

Family Systems Therapy looks at the role and place of individual members within a much larger system - the family. For the parent who is striving to recover from Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) and help the children move forward, it may involve examining his or her childhood family. By doing so, combined with considering the current family unit may create insights into connections, values, beliefs and relationships that are very powerful.

This page will have links to a number of worksheets that can be done with the guidance of a counsellor to help reflect on family.

Understanding my family a bit more.

This first set of worksheets is about understanding the family relationships and dynamics. They can be first applied to the family you grew up in. Once you have done that, perhaps it may be helpful to sit down with your child or children, one at a time and do it with them to learn what they think and feel.
